Islam: A Religion of Peace and Necessity

Islam

The Prophet Muhammad established Islam more than 1,400 years ago (SW). With over 1.7 billion adherents, Islam is the world’s fastest-growing religion.

The Arabic term “Islam” signifies submission, surrender, and obedience. As a religion, Islam represents complete submission and allegiance to Allah; hence, its name. The alternative literal meaning of “Islam” is “peace.” This indicates that true physical and mental serenity can only be attained through surrender and devotion to Allah. Such obedience produces inner calm and establishes genuine harmony in society at large.

The Islamic confession of faith is straightforward and declares, “Allah alone is worthy of worship; Muhammad is Allah’s messenger.” In fact, there is no formal ceremony required to become a Muslim beyond accepting this view and reciting this confession of faith.

The Prophet Muhammad (SW) is the only religious leader whose life is thoroughly documented. He was an orphan from birth and was illiterate. He was a spouse, parent, neighbor, friend, and businessman in his private life. As a public figure, he was a prophet, chief executive, lawmaker, judge, politician, and general. As Allah’s Prophet, he is a lawgiver and reformer. He traversed every imaginable level of human experience and left behind a model of flawless behavior to be imitated.

All religions rely on the use of personal faith to acquire belief certainty. In addition to mystery, mythology, and tales, Islam encourages its followers to utilize reason and experience. It is a comprehensive religion that fulfills both your brain and your spirit.

There is no intermediary between humans and Allah since there is no middleman. Islam asserts that we all have a personal relationship with Allah and that he is the only one who can absolve us of our sins. We have no obligation to confess to another person. Daily prayers encourage direct communication with Allah, which is all you need to do. Islam encourages allegiance to one’s country or nation as part of one’s faith, regardless of whether or not the country is Muslim.

Islam maintains that angels are submissive servants of Allah. The angel of revelation, Gabriel, delivered the direct words of Allah, the Holy Qur’an, to the Prophet Muhammad (SW) over a lengthy period of time.

Islam is religion compatible with contemporary society. A Muslim is someone who is concerned with morality and conduct. According to the Holy Qur’an, nothing prevents a Muslim from being a part of contemporary society. Muslims drive automobiles, use cell phones and the Internet, vote in elections, have jobs and careers, invest in business, educate, travel the globe, raise families, go sailing, and pursue higher levels of education; they are also good neighbors.

Islam is a force that brings people together from all over the world. It was intended to bring peace and harmony to all the different nations and peoples. Additionally, Islam is a religion that encourages the end of religious conflict on a global scale.

To find the true path as adults, people must now contend with their natural propensity toward God and their desires. The call of Islam is addressed to this primordial nature, the natural propensity, the imprint of God on the soul, the fitra, which caused the souls of every living thing to concur that He Who created them was their Lord before the heavens and earth were created.

“I did not create the jinn and mankind except for My worship.” (Qur’an, 51:56)
