Ready to return

2021-2022 Plan for Safe Return to Campus

Dear Parents,

As we end this extraordinary school year, we wanted to share a summary of our plans for the 2021-22 school year. As you will see, we are currently planning for much more normalcy as we begin next school year, with all students starting in-person classes in our new MTI campus. We do anticipate some COVID-19 mitigation protocols will continue to be in place, including social distancing.

Our admin staff will continue planning in earnest for the 2021-22 school year throughout the summer, paying close attention to guidance from the CDC and Marion County Public Health Department. As we have learned throughout this pandemic, the situation can change quickly, and plans may need to adapt depending on national and local conditions. However, we remain extremely optimistic for a much more “normal” 2021-22 school year.

We will continue to keep you updated as plans for 2021-22 evolve. In the meantime, we wish you all a happy, healthy, and relaxing summer.

We intend to return to campus and have full in-person instruction for all students, during the 2021-22 academic year.

VACCINATIONS

Al-Ilm Weekend School encourages all eligible community members to become vaccinated. Vaccination will be the primary tool in combating the virus, ensuring in-person education, and preserving your child’s educational experience. Moving forward, the school will follow the guidance of the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) with respect to vaccination requirements for students.

ZOOM ACCESS

In-person learning is best for our students’ academic and social growth. Therefore, during the 2021-22 academic year, we will not offer any zoom classes.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

At this point, MCPHD has designated three feet of distance between students acceptable in grades K-8. MCPHD continues to recommend six feet of distance for students in grades 9-12. We will adjust our approach when updates are made to these guidelines.

MASKS AND THE DAILY HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE

Many public schools have implemented the daily health questionnaires during the 2020-21 school year. Several decisions are yet to be determined. We await updated guidelines from MCPHD and new CDC recommendations regarding masks and the daily health questionnaire.

HAND WASHING AND HAND SANITIZER

Students will have frequent opportunities for hand washing and hand sanitizer stations will be inseveral locations such as, the cafeteria, recess, etc.
